  • New Play Equipment For Hoveton

We’re pleased to report that, following completion of essential repairs and maintenance, the children’s playground area at Hoveton Village Hall is once again open for little ones to enjoy. Thank you to all those who donated funds to assist with the cost of the initial repairs to the playground equipment, and an extra special thank you to Collins & Co Painting and Decorating, who kindly volunteered their time over the May bank holiday weekend to give the playground equipment a much-needed repaint (and also to Crown Decorating Centre in Norwich, who donated all of the materials needed for this job). A wonderful example of community spirit at its best!

Meanwhile, hot on the heels of the refurbished play area, Hoveton Village Hall’s playing field now offers brand new equipment for local youngsters to enjoy, following the recent installation of a zip wire and a new large swing set!

These improvements wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the Hoveton Village Hall Management Committee, in particular Cllr Jilly Gourlay and Cllr Ann Rogers, who have worked tirelessly over the past few years to improve facilities at the Village Hall for local residents. However, the Management Committee consists of only four local volunteers at present (including Cllr Gourlay and Cllr Rogers) so more help is needed if the Village Hall is to survive and thrive.

Why not get involved and give something back to your local community? After all, nobody cares more about your Village Hall than you! For more information or to chat about what’s involved, please contact Cllr Jilly Gourlay (07818 214277 or [email protected]). In the meantime, please follow Hoveton Village Hall’s Facebook page for regular updates!

  • Children’s Playground Update

As residents may be aware, the children’s playground at Hoveton Village Hall is currently closed. This closure is due to essential repairs being needed in order for the playground equipment to meet current health and safety requirements.

Toward the end of last year, a fundraising page was set up by a local resident to help pay for these repairs. Unfortunately, the money raised has only very recently been passed on to the Village Hall charity. Using these donated funds, the charity will now proceed with organising repairs to the play area. It is hoped these repairs will be carried out by the end of March, subject to the availability of a welder to carry out the work.

In the meantime, Hoveton Village Hall is in need of volunteers to join a working party to assist with jobs such as painting and general maintenance of the Hall and its grounds. Can you help? If so, please contact Cllr Jilly Gourlay on [email protected] or 07818 214277.
