  • Budget Preparations

Hoveton Parish Council will soon be drawing up its draft budget for the 2020/21 financial year and planning how funds will be spent. As part of this process, your Parish Council welcomes and encourages feedback from local residents on items to be included in the budget and on the setting of the parish precept. So if you have identified a particular need for funding within the parish, or if there is a specific project you would like to see Hoveton Parish Council pursue in the near future, please do get in touch and let us know.

In particular, we welcome local residents’ views on any highway improvements the Parish Council may be able to part-fund via Norfolk County Council’s Parish Partnership Scheme. This scheme offers 50/50 funding up to a maximum of £25,000 per bid (the parish council must ‘match fund’ the amount applied for) for projects such as small lengths of formal footway; trods; improved crossing facilities; improvements to Public Rights of Way; flashing signs to tackle speeding; and part-time 20mph signs with flashing warning lights outside schools.

Ideas already put forward by local residents include new bus shelters, dropped kerbs, and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, while Hoveton Parish Council is considering whether it may be possible to fund speed humps or other traffic calming measures via the Parish Partnership Scheme following concerns raised by local residents about persistent speeding on Church Road. Which projects would you support? What would you like to see in your village? Please send your feedback to Lisa, the Parish Clerk (07572 349 600 or [email protected]).
