As regular readers of this website will know, The Broads Centre (Hoveton’s ‘shopping precinct’) will soon have a whole new look, with work due to begin in the coming months on new and improved hard and soft landscaping – including new surfaces, seating, and planters. Hoveton’s Granary Staithe, which provides a key entrance to The Broads Centre, will be receiving an exciting makeover too as part of this work, including the replacement of gravel areas with a more durable resin surface and the introduction of some new street furniture, though the Staithe will retain its own unique identity and look.
Work on these improvements was scheduled to begin on 16th September, but this start date has since been delayed due to problems with the supply of materials. At the time of writing, no new date has been confirmed for this work to begin, but it is hoped the work will soon be underway and, all being well, that it will possibly be completed in time for Christmas. There may be a small amount of disruption while the work takes place, with access to Granary Staithe likely to be restricted at times, but your Parish Council is in close contact with the developer responsible for these works and will do its best to ensure local residents and business owners are kept updated.
