  • Stalham Road Speed Limit Update

At the end of 2019, Hoveton Parish Council wrote to Norfolk County Council to request that the speed limit on the 40mph residential section of Stalham Road be reduced to 30mph. Despite backing up this request with data gathered from our SAM2 sign and referencing the criteria for change outlined in the Norfolk Speed Management Strategy, NCC turned down our request for a speed limit reduction. In March, we sent a follow-up letter to NCC in order to press this issue further, but unfortunately our request to reduce the speed limit has again been refused. We have been told the location’s personal injury accident history doesn’t support the perception that this road is particularly dangerous, and that the traffic regulation order costs which would need to accompany the speed limit change would not be seen as cost effective.

  • Road Closure (Horning Road)

We’ve received notice from Norfolk County Council that, owing to a new water main connection, the use by vehicles of the A1062 Horning Road from 300m east of Church Road to a point 400m in an easterly direction will be temporarily prohibited from 31st March 2020 to 2nd April 2020 for the duration of the works, expected to be about three days within the period. If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of five days.

  • Stalham Road Speed Limit Update

Thank you to all who came along to a very well attended and lively Parish Council meeting on Monday 2nd December. One of the many matters discussed was the issue of persistent speeding on the 40mph residential section of Stalham Road. Hoveton Parish Council resolved to take action on behalf of residents and have now kicked off the process with NCC to try to have the speed limit reduced from 40mph to 30mph, backed up by the substantial evidence gathered via our SAM2 sign. It’s unlikely this matter will be resolved quickly, but we’ll keep residents informed as and when progress is made. We work for you.
