Community Gardening Project

Hoveton Parish Council’s longstanding landscaping contract with North Norfolk District Council is due to end in spring 2019, so HPC will soon be taking direct responsibility for arranging the planting and maintenance of public flower beds throughout the village. This project will be led by an enthusiastic and hardworking local volunteer, who already takes extremely good care of the Granary Staithe garden and who is very knowledgeable about such matters. At present, a low maintenance ‘dry garden’ plan is being considered with a mix of shrubs, herbaceous plants, bulbs, and drought-resistant annuals to keep Hoveton looking lovely throughout the year.

Hoveton Parish Council would be pleased to hear from residents who would like to get involved in this exciting project, whether through submitting ideas for plants, tending to a particular flower bed, joining a working party to help plant the beds, or simply sharing gardening skills and knowledge with others. It is hoped this will be a true community project that local residents of all ages can contribute to. Local businesses and community groups are also welcome to get involved and Hoveton Parish Council would especially like to hear from any businesses who would be interested in providing plants or ‘sponsoring’ a flower bed. Please contact Cllr Alex Howe ([email protected] or 01603 783096) if you can help in any way.
